Operation Paws on the Ground’s first annual Trunk or Treat event was an overwhelming success. Despite the terrible weather local supports came out in the hundreds. Thanks to the local business “Bionis Crossfit” we were able to quickly pivot our outdoor event to an indoor one. Our fantastic friends at the Nutmeg MINIacs (Mini Cooper Care Club) also adjusted from decorating their trunks to decorating tables. The kids had a great time getting their faces painted, playing games and entering contests. Our best costume winner received a beautiful brand new bike just her size. Everyone won prizes and received lots of goodies.
The proceeds from this event help set the stage for the following weeks when Dwayne (one of our selected vets) and Scout (a beautiful rescue from Tennessee) were scheduled to meet. The meeting went well and they took to each other immediately. So well that Scout went home with Dwayne that same day and they have since begun their journey of training to care for one another. You can start to follow their story shortly as we will be documenting their beautiful journey together.
